Pros: Second ingredient is a named meat product
Cons: Insufficient meat content, mixed quality ingredients, controversial filler

This food is primarily based on Polenta at over 26%. Polenta is not a bad quality product, but this is a food designed for canines and it should be based on meat rather than on grains which are not a natural food substance for this species.

The second ingredient in this food is a named meat product, in meal form. It comprises less than 26% of the food, This is a fish meal ingredient and we find no sign on the manufacturer website of a guarantee that they use only ethoxyquin-free protein sources in the product (ethoxyquin is a chemical preservative commonly added to fish ingredients, but which is banned or heavily regulated in human food due to the belief that it is carcinogenic).

Rice is a further grain product in the food and is a decent quality grain and carbohydrate source. Beet pulp is controversial filler which appears to be used in large quantities in this food. It is a by-product, being dried residue from sugar beets which has been cleaned and extracted in the process of manufacturing sugar. It is a controversial ingredient in dog food, claimed by some manufacturers to be a good source of fibre, and derided by others as an ingredient added to slow down the transition of rancid animal fats and causing stress to kidney and liver in the process. We note that beet pulp is an ingredient that commonly causes problems for dogs, including allergies and ear infections, and prefer not to see it used in dog food. There are less controversial products around if additional fibre is required. We appreciate the inclusion of whole egg in the food. We appreciate the use of whole eggs in the food.

Overall, this product appears very light in meat content (we would suggest adding meat if this procudt is used). The remaining ingredients are rather mixed in quality, with some good quality grains and organics, but also some less desirable inclusions.
