Pros:
First two ingredients are named meat products, uses good quality organic ingredients
Cons:
Minimum acceptable meat content
The first two ingredients are named meat products. The first is meat inclusive of water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). However, since it is followed by a meat meal ingredient, we have some degree of confidence in the level of meat content of the food. There are further named meat products 7th and 8th on the ingredient list, the former of which is in meal form. Although still ahead of the fat content, these are minor ingredients and are unlikely to add substantially to the overall meat content of the food.
The three grains in the top five ingredients are all organic and good quality grains. Flaxseed provides a good source of omega 3/6 OFAs. Tomato pomace is primarily filler.
Overall, this product appears to use good quality ingredients and we appreciate the use of organics. However, it would be improved by greater meat content and less prolific use of grains.
