Pros: First two ingredients are named meat products.
Cons: Mixed quality ingredients.

Another Timberwolf formula that has undergone revision, Ocean Blue changes occur primarily in the quality of the carbohydrate and fat sources.
The original formula of this food (can be viewed in the archives) utilised potato rather than potato product and a variety of fish oils rather than chicken fat which may be something of a disappointment for those with dogs sensitive to chicken.

The first ingredient in the food is white fish meal (previously "low ash" white fish meal). This is followed by salmon, a named meat product, but inclusive of its water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredients would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight).

Potato product is a low quality ingredient, being peelings, culls and byproducts arising from human food production. In positive news, the food remains grain-free.

Chicken fat as the fourth ingredient raises some concern as research at Purdue University has identified fat in the top four ingredients of a dry food as a factor increasing the risk of bloat in large breed dogs. Smaller breeds are untested.

We note that the manufacturer retains on their website a statement warranting the use of 48-52% meat meal in their foods, which is certainly one of the highest around. The use of low quality ingredients such as potato product as a major component of the food is a distinct negative and decided downgrade. The food retains its 5* rating - just.
