Pros: Two named meat products in top five ingredients, predominantly good quality ingredients
Cons: Uncertain meat content

There are four named meat products within the top eight ingredients of this food - down from five in its original formula. The first two of these are meat inclusive of its water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). The presence of two meat meal ingredients high on the list, gives us some degree of confidence in the amount of meat product in the food.

The major grains in the food is are rice, millet and barley. These are a good quality grains that is easily digested and non-allergenic, however we note that they are no longer stated to be whole grains. Flaxseed is an excellent source of Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids. There is a good range of fruits/vegetables in the food, and a good range of probiotics.

We do note that the manufacturer retains on their website a statement that all formulas contain 48-52% meat meals. It is this statement that retains the 5* rating for this product but we have some lingering doubt as the greater number of grains and fewer meat products in the ingredient list are suggestive of a somewhat lower meat content in the food.
