Pros: First two ingredients are named meat products
Cons: Inadequate meat content

The first two ingredients in this food are named meat products but are inclusive of water content (around 80%). Once this is removed as it must be to create a dehydrated product, the ingredients will weigh about 20% of their wet weight. As ingredients are listed in weight order, it is thus unlikely that these are truely the first and third ingredients in the food, but would be more accurately placed further down the ingredient list. The seventh ingredient, chicken meal, is most likely the true first meat ingredient in the food, followed by herring meal 9th on the ingredient list.

The third, fourth and sixth ingredients are grains. Barley and oats are decent quality grains and good carbohydrate sources. Potatoes are further carbohydrates and starch. Pea fiber is primarily filler. This food appears rather heavy in grains and light in meat content.

The food does contain a range of fruits/vegetables and probiotics. We appreciate the inclusion of whole eggs. Overall, the food does use primarily good quality ingredients, but suffers a great deal in low meat content. It has been rated 4* on ingredient quality, but we would suggest it be supplemented with meat.
