Pros:
First and fourth ingredients are named meat products. Allergy formula.
Cons:
Insufficient meat content, mixed quality ingredients.
The first ingredient in the food is a named meat product, as is the fourth. Since the first is venison inclusive of its water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). The meal version is the fourth ingredient in the food. It is thus impossible to be confident that the food contains an adequate amount of meat despite having only a few ingredients.
The second, third and fifth ingredients are all parts of rice. Whole grain rice is a good quality ingredient, and a good source of carbohydrates and protein. But rice flour and rice bran are grain fragments that we consider to be filler. Canola oil is a good source of linoleic acid and flaxseed is a good source of Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids.
This is a food aimed at allergy dogs, and as such contains only a few ingredients. Essentially just rice, venison and oil. The ingredients are of mixed quality, however, with a number of grain fragments in the food. We have little confidence that the food contains a sufficient amount of meat.
