Pros: First two ingredients are named meat products, generally good quality ingredients
Cons: Uncertain meat content

The first two ingredients in this food are both meat ingredients, in meal form. This gives us some degree of confidence that the product has a reasonable meat content, although we also note four grain ingredients ahead of the fat content, which combined are likely to outweigh the combined meat content. Nonetheless, it is likely that this product has a reasonable amount of meat. We are unable to locate any guarantee by the manufacturer that this ingredient is free of ethoxyquin. Ethoxyquin is a chemical preservative commonly added to fish ingredients destined for pet foods and which is banned from use in human foods because it is believed to be carcinogenic.

There are four main grain ingredients in the food, which as noted above, is quite a lot and does raise some questions of the meat content. All are good quality whole grains. The food contains a small amount of fruit and vegetable matter amongst the minor ingredients, and a good range of probiotics.

We note the inclusion of synthetic vitamin K, a substance alleged by some to be linked to liver problems and which is progressively being removed from better quality products.

Overall, the ingredients comprising this food appear to be primarily good quality. We have given the product a 4* rating, but retain some doubt about the overall meat content of the food. Users might consider supplementing this diet with meat.
