Pros:
Cons: Insufficient meat content, meat and fat of unidentifiable origin, appears generally low quality

The first ingredient in this food is corn. Corn is a difficult to digest grain of limited value in dog food, and which is also commonly associated with food allergies. Even if this had been a good quality grain, we would still note that grains are an unnatural foodstuff for canines, and that dog food products should be based on meat rather than grain. Further grain products in the food are oat and rice flour (in dog food products, commonly byproducts of human food production) which we consider grain fragments and primarily filler.

Poultry meal is a meat meal product but is not one named by species. This is a concern as it makes it impossible to identify the source, quality or consistency of the ingredient. Ingredients of unidentifiable source are usually very low quality, cheap ingredients and are not found in higher quality products.

Similarly, poultry fat is an another ingredient of unidentified origin for which it is impossible to determine source or quality. Unidentified ingredients are usually very low quality. AAFCO define this as obtained from the tissues of poultry in the commercial processes of rendering or extracting. It consists predominantly of glyceride esters of fatty acids and contains no additions of free fatty acids. If an antioxidant is used, the common name or names must be indicated, followed by the words "used as a preservative". Buying low quality products from organic farms does not change their low quality.

The product contains a small amount of vegetable matter. Overall, this product appears to have minimal meat content and utilises too many low quality ingredients. A 1* rating was strongly considered.
