Inadequate meat content, low quality meat and grain products

The first ingredient in this food, Maize (corn), is a difficult to digest grain of limited value in dog food and commonly associated with food allergies. Even if this had been a high quality grain, we would still note that it is a grain and not a natural foodstuff for a canine. Dog food products should be based on meat, not on grains. The second ingredient is a further grain. Corn is a difficult to digest grain of limited value in dog food, and which is also commonly associated with food allergies.
The next ingredient in this food is "meat and marrowbone". This is not a meat meal ingredient, but instead is inclusive of water content (about 80%). Once this is removed, as it must be to create a dehydrated product, the ingredient will weigh around 20% of its wet weight. As ingredients are listed in order of weight, it is thus unlikely that this ingredient is truely amongst the most prolific in the food and would be more accurately placed further down the ingredient list. At wet weight comprising only 31% of the food, it is likely that the true meat content of this product is significantly lower. In this instance, however, users may be thankful as this is an extremely low quality ingredient that is not even identifiable by species or source. We prefer to avoid any dog food products using such ingredients. Barley is a decent quality grain.
We note the food has added vitamins and minerals, but no information is given about these and may include synthetics.
