Pros:
First and fourth ingredients are named meat products.
Cons:
Insufficient meat product.
The first ingredient in this food is a named meat product, however, it is trout inclusive of its water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). It is likely then that the true first (and probably second) ingredient is grain rather than meat. There is a second meat ingredient (in meal form) fourth on the ingredient list.
The second and third ingredients in the food are both forms of oats. Oats are a decent quality grain, but this is a form of "splitting" that leads us to believe that the combined oat products probably make up the bulk of this food. We consider oat flour (a fragment) to be filler. Sweet potato (7th) is a useful ingredient. The food contains a useful range of probiotics.
Overall, the quality of ingredients in this food is good. It does not contain sufficient meat products to be considered a premium food, however. Meat is of primary importance in foods made for canines, and should make up the greatest proportion of the food.
