Pros:
First two ingredients are named meat products, good quality ingredients
Cons:
Uncertain meat content
The first ingredient in this food is a named meat product, in meal form. The second ingredient is also a named meat product, but this one is inclusive of water content (about 80%). Once that is removed, as it must be to create a dehydrated product, the ingredient will weigh around 20% of its wet weight. It is thus likely that this dry ingredient may be more accurately placed much further down the ingredient list than its wet form (ingredients are listed in order of weight). Since the ingredient list is still headed by a meat meal ingredient, this does not cause considerable loss of confidence in the likely meat content of the food. There are further meat meal ingredients 5th and 6th on the ingredient list, but this starts to be too far down the listing to make a significant contribution to the overall meat content of the food.
The main grains in the food are rice and milo (aka sorghum). These are decent quality whole grains. Further starch content comes from potatoes and yams. We appreciate the inclusion of whole eggs and a range of frutis and vegetables in the food. There is a good range of probiotics. Fat content in this product comes from oil (salmon and canola) rather than animal fat. This is generally positive, although not all agree that canola is good quality.
Overall, this product appears to use good quality ingredients. We would have some concern that the grain ingredients, albeit good quality, appear to be much more plentiful than meat ingredients. Users might consider supplementing this diet with real meat.
