First three ingredients are named meat products, good quality ingredients

Cons:
The first three ingredients in this food are named meat products. The first two of these are inclusive of water content (about 80%); the third is in meal form. Once water is removed from the first two ingredients, as it must be to create a dehydrated product, the ingredients will weigh around 20% of their wet weight. It is thus likely that the dry ingredients may be more accurately placed much further down the ingredient list than its wet form (ingredients are listed in order of weight). Since the ingredient list is still headed by a meat meal ingredient, this does not cause considerable loss of confidence in the likely meat content of the food, and the macronutrient breakdown is supportive.
There are two futher meat ingredients 7th and 8th on the ingredient list. This is too far down to substantially contribute to overall meat content. We note that one is a fish meal ingredient but find no sign of a guarantee on the manufacturer website that the ingredient is purchased free of ethoxyquin (ethoxyquin is a chemical preservative, commonly added to fish meal ingredients, and which is banned or heavily regulated in human food production due to the belief that it is carcinogenic).
The main grains in the food are rice, barley and oatmeal, all of which are decent quality. The food contains a range of vegetables and a good range of probiotics. We note the food is preserved with citric acid, so should not be premoistened prior to feeding.
