Pros: First two ingredients are named meat products, generally good quality ingredients
Cons: Minimum acceptable meat content

The first two ingredients in this food are all named meat products. The first is in meal form, whilst the second is inclusive of water content. Once that is removed, as it must be to create a dehydrated product, the ingredient will weigh around 20% of its wet weight and may not be the true second ingredient in the food but rather more accurately placed further down the ingredient list. Since it was preceeded by a meat meal ingredient (already dehydrated) this alone does not give rise to concerns about the meat content of the food. There is a further meat meal ingredients 9th on the ingredient list, but this is too far down to make any substantial contribution to the overall meat content.

Rice is the primary grain in the food - and possibly the main ingredient overall. Rice appears in two forms, third and fourth on the ingredient list and combined could outweigh the meat named as the first ingredient. Oatmeal and potatoes are a further starch & carbohydrate source in the food.

We appreciate the use of whole egg in the food, though note the presence of a couple of fillers (rice bran and pea fibre). The latter are minor ingredients, however, and do not materially detract from generally good quality ingredients used in the food. There is a range of fruits and vegetables, and a good range of probiotics.

Overall, this product appears to use generally good quality ingredients and have a reasonable meat content. More meat would still be desirable though, and users might consider supplementing this diet with real meat. A 4* rating was considered on this basis.
