Pros: First three ingredients are named meat products, generally good quality ingredients
Cons:

The first three ingredients in this food are all named meat products. Two of these are meat inclusive of water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that these ingredients would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). However, since the second ingredient is a meat meal, our confidence in the level of meat content of the food is not greatly affected. There are further meat ingredients 12th and 13th on the list. The latter of these this is too far down to make up a substantive portion of the food. That is fish meal, a source of Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids.

The main grains are rice, oats and barley. All are whole grains and good quality sources of carbohydrates and additional protein. Millet is a further good quality grain in the food. The food contains a range of fresh fruits and vegetables, though we note that whole eggs have been replaced by egg product in this formulation. Flaxseed is a good quality source of Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids, and the food contains a range of probiotics.

Overall, this is appears to be a good quality food with a reasonable amount of meat and that uses high quality ingredients throughout. We do note, however, that the previous formula of this food appeared to have a higher meat content and are disappointed with the reduction in meat meal ingredients heading the ingredient list in this product. The food retains its 5* rating, but would no longer be considered amongst the best in this category.
