Pros:
Second ingredient is a named meat product.
Cons:
Insuficient meat products. Contains wheat, soy, avocado.
The first ingredient is this food is a grain fragment and filler. The use of wheat is a significant negative however: wheat is believed to be the number one cause of allergy problems in dog food. There are two wheat products in the food.
The second ingredient is a named meat source and the third a decent grain. There is a further meat ingredient (herring meal) 9th on the ingredient list. Dried avocado meal is a controversial ingredient as avocados are toxic to dogs. The toxic dose is unknown.
We note the use of soybean oil in the food. Soy is a poor quality source of protein in dog food, and a common cause of allergy problems. Some believe that it is the number 1 cause of food allergies in dogs (outstripping even wheat).
