Pros: First two ingredients are named meat products, uses primarily good quality ingredients.
Cons: Minimum acceptable meat content, some filler. High calcium content for puppy food.

The first and second ingredients in the food are named meat products. We note that the first is bison inclusive of its water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). However, since the second ingredient is a meat meal product, this is not a great concern.

The primary grain in the food is rice. Rice is also a good quality grain and source of carbohydrates, protein and fibre. Millet is a good quality grain, easily digested and non-allergenic. Barley is a good quality grains, and a good source of carbohydrate energy and B vitamins. Rice bran is a grain fragment and filler. Canola oil provides linoleic acid and flaxseed is an excellent source of Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids.

We note that the calcium content of this food is 1.5% which is rather high for a puppy food, especially one aimed at large breed dogs. We would treat this with caution.
