Pros: Second ingredient is a named meat product, uses primarily high quality ingredients. Allergy formula.
Cons: Low level of meat product in the food.

The first ingredient in the food is rice. Rice is a good quality grain that is low-allergenic and a high quality source of carbohydrates, protein and fibre.

Venison is the second ingredient, but we note it is venison inclusive of its water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). This is the sole meat product in the food. Whilst this is deliberate in order to produce a food suitable for dogs with allergy problems, we are concerned at the low level of meat product the food contains.

Rice protein is filler. Flaxseed is fibre and an excellent source of Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids. Sunflower oil is a high quality source of essential linoleic acids.

Overall, we are happy with the quality of most of the ingredients in the food. The ingredient list is deliberately simple and designed for allergic dogs who may not tolerate a wide range of ingredients. We have concerns, however, at the apparently low level of meat content of the food. Consequently, we would recommend that this food only for dogs with very low tolerance to a wider range of ingredients.
