Pros: First ingredient is a named meat product.
Cons: Insufficient meat products in food.

The first ingredient in the food is a named meat ingredient. There is a further meat ingredient (fish meal) 10th on the ingredient list, but it is unlikely that this product forms a substantive part of the food (ingredients are listed by weight).

The next four ingredients are all grains. We appreciate that these are all whole grains, and therefore inclusive of their nutritional content. However, we also note that if the two forms of rice were not “split” (see main page for explanation of splitting) then it is likely that rice would be the primary ingredient listed. We have little doubt that the combined grains outweigh the meat products.

We appreciate the use of fruits and vegetables in the food, and note that it uses whole eggs. There is a range of probiotics in the food also.

With only one true meat product in the top five or so ingredients, this food is too light in meat content to be considered a premium product. It contains no cheap grain fragments, however, nor any other controversial ingredients.

Note that this food uses citric acid as a preservative and thus should not be premoistened prior to feeding (bloat risk factor for large breed dogs).
