Pros: First, second and fifth ingredients are named meat products, uses good quality whole ingredients throughout.
Cons:

The first two ingredients are named meat products. The first of these is meat inclusive of its water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). However, the presence of a meat meal ingredient high on the list gives us confidence that there is an adequate amount of meat in the food. There is a further meat meal ingredient 6th on the list, which further increases our confidence that this food contains adequate meat. This is a fish meal ingredient and we note that the manufacturer does not state the use of ethoxyquin-free sources (ethoxyquin is a chemical preservative commonly added to fish destined for meal, and is believed to be carcinogenic).

Amongst the first grains are two forms of rice (note the explanation of splitting on the main page) and barley. Rice is a low-allergenic grain that is a good quality source of carbohydrate and additional protein. Barley is also a good quality grain and carbohydrate source. Oatmeal and rye are further grains at 7th and 8th on the ingredient list, making this food appear quite heavy in grains even if they are good quality ones.

Sunflower oil is a good quality fat and source of linoleic acid, but we would prefer to see the use of whole eggs rather than egg product in the food. There is a nice range of whole fruits and vegetables, and probiotics.

Overall, this is a good quality food and probably amongst the best in this class. The splitting of the rice ingredients and high number of total grains in the food does lead us to suspect that it may be a little grain heavy, and this is what has precluded us giving it a higher rating.
