Minimum acceptable meat content.

The first, second and third ingredients in the food are named meat products. The first two of these, chicken and turkey, are inclusive of water content and once this is removed - as it must be to make a dry food - these ingredients will end up weighing around 20% of the original weight. It is thus likely that these ingredients would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list.
The second is a meat meal, which increases our confidence in the meat content of the food. However, we know that it accounts for less than 32% of the total (but not how much less). Further meat products in the food are duck and salmon each with 3% of the total (wet weight). This makes negligible contribution to the overall meat content of the food. It is this lack of confidence that precludes a higher rating, though it was considered.
The main grains are whole brown and white rice. These are decent quality, but this begins to look like a very grain heavy food, and it is likely that if the rice ingredients were not "split" that this would be the true first ingredient in the food.
We appreciate the inclusion of a range of fruits and vegetables in the food, but consider the inclusion of shellfish powder and poultry cartillage to be, at best, a gimmick.
