First, third and fifth ingredients are named meat products, uses primarily good quality ingredients throughout.

The first and third ingredients of this food are named meat products, both in meal form. The second ingredient is millet, which is a good quality grain that is easily digested and low-allergenic. There is a third meat meal ingredient, salmon meal, fifth on the ingredient list. We do not find any information about the presence or otherwise of ethoxyquin in the ingredient (ethoxyquin is a chemical preservative commonly added to fish ingredients and that is banned from human foods due to the belief that it is carcinogenic).
These three ingredients are the only ones ahead of the fat content of the food, and there are no further grains in this product. We thus have a high level of confidence, supported by the macronutrient breakdown, that this product contains a good amount of meat.
Fat as the fourth ingredient is a concern. Research at Purdue University has identified a fat in the top four ingredients of a dry food as a factor that increases the risk of bloat in large breed dogs.
Montmorillonite is a clay, primarily present as an anti-caking agent. Some research indicates that montmorillonite or bentonite has the ability to bind mycotoxins in the digestive system of animals. Flaxseed is a useful source of Omega EFAs. We would prefer to see the use of whole eggs rather than egg product in the food, but appreciate the range of fruits and vegetables and the range of probiotics.
