Pros: First two ingredients are named meat products, uses primarily good quality ingredients
Cons:

The first two ingredients in this food are named meat products. The first of these is salmon, inclusive of water content (around 80%). When the ingredient has its water removed, as it must to create a dry food, it will weigh around 20% of its wet weight. It is thus unlikely that this is the true first ingredient in the food, but would be more accurately placed further down the ingredient list. The second meat ingredient is in meal form, and is most likely the true first ingredient in the food. We note that this is a fish meal, but are not able to locate a statement on the manufacturer's website guaranteeing the use of ethoxyquin-free protein sources (Ethoxyquin is a chemical preservative, commonly added to fish meal ingredients and that is banned or heavily regulated in the human food industry due to the belief that it is carcinogenic).

There are further meat ingredients (1 meal) 6th and 7th on the ingredient list, but these are too far down to make a substantial contribution to the overall meat content of the food.

The primary carbohydrate and starch sources are sweet potatoes and potatoes. We appreciate that this is a grainless food, providing more species-appropriate nutrition than grain-based foods. Potato fiber is filler, but the food contains a reasonable range of fruits and probiotics. Overall, a good looking product.
