Pros: First and fourth ingredients are named meat products, organic, good quality ingredients throughout
Cons: Insufficient meat content

The first ingredient in this food is a named meat product. It is chicken inclusive of water content (about 80%) meaning that when the water is removed as it must be to create a dry product, the ingredient will weigh around 20% of its wet weight. It is thus unlikely that this is the true first ingredient in the food, but would be more accurately placed further down the ingredient list.

The second (and true first) ingredient in the food is organic brown rice. This is a good quality ingredient, but the major ingredient of any dog food should be meat. This is followed by organic oatmeal - another good quality grain, but still grain. The first true meat ingredient does not occur until fourth on the ingredient list. There is a further meat meal ingredient (salmon) at 7th, just ahead of the fat content, but this is too far down to compensate the overall meat content of the food.

The food contains a range of fruits/vegetables and a good range of probiotics. Overall, it appears to be a good quality product worthy of its 4* rating, but would require a higher meat content to be rated more highly.
