Pros:
First and fourth ingredients are named meat products, primarily good quality ingredients.
Cons:
Slightly grain heavy food
The first and fourth ingredients in this food are named meat products, both in meal form. With a supportive macronutrient breakdown, this give us reasonable confidence that the food contains an adequate amount of meat.
It is still likely that the most significant ingredient is rice. Two forms of rice are the second and third ingredients in the food which, if not split (see explanation of splitting on the how we assess the foods page) then the combined rice products would most likely outweight the meat content as the true first ingredient in the food. Rice is a decent quality grain and good carbohydrate source, as is barley, the 6th ingredient. Rice bran, however, is a grain fragment and filler.
Salmon meal is a further meat meal ingredient, but is too far down the ingredient list to add significantly to the overall meat content of the food. It is a good source of omega 3 & 6 OFAs, supporting canola oil which, although a single source oil, is not regarded by all as high quality.
The food contains no fruits or vegetables, but has a good range of probiotics.
