Pros: First ingredient is a named meat product.
Cons: Insufficient meat product in the food.

The first ingredient is a named meat source. It is chicken inclusive of its water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). There is a second meat ingredient, chicken meal, 7th on the ingredient list. This does little to give us confidence that there is a respectable amount of meat product in the food.

Ingredients 2-6 are all organic grains. These are decent quality grains, but it is clear that they make up the vast majority of the food. We appreciate organic ingredients, but feel that foods designed for dogs should be based primarily on meat, not on grains.

Organic carrots and potatoes provide some vegetable content, and there is a good range of probiotics.

Note that this food uses citric acid as a preservative and should not be premoistened prior to feeding (a bloat risk factor for large breed dogs).
