Pros: First three ingredients are named meat products, uses primarily good quality ingredients
Cons: Higher apparent meat content desirable

The first two ingredients in the food are named meat products. Both are meat inclusive of its water content (about 80%) it is likely that once that is removed these ingredients would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). This does not cause concern, since the third ingredient is also a named meat product, this time in meal form. The seventh ingredient is Lamb, also inclusive of water content.

There is a further meat meal ingredient (fish) 8th on the ingredient list, and being still ahead of the fat content should be considered as a substantive ingredient. It is not stated on the packaging that Ethoxyquin-free fish sources are used (ethoxyquin is a chemical preservative commonly added to fish destined for meal, and is believed to be carcinogenic).

The main grains in the food are brown rice, barley and oatmeal. All are decent quality grains. Potato is a further starch source. Tomato pomace is filler, but the only ingredient of this type in the food. There is a good range of vegetables and probiotics.

Note that this food uses citric acid as a preservative and should not be premoistened prior to feeding.
