Pros: First and fifth ingredients are named meat products.

The first ingredient in the food is a named meat product in meal form. There is a further meat meal ingredient fifth on the list, followed by a meat product (chicken) inclusive of water content. We can thus have some degree of confidence that this food contains a reasonable amount of meat.

The second ingredient is ground barley, which is a decent quality grain. It is a concern to see chicken fat is the third ingredient in the food. Fat in the top four ingredients of a dry dog food ia factor that increases the risk of bloat in large breed dogs (per Purdue Veterinary research). Smaller breeds are untested.

The remaining ingredients are predominantly good quality, though we consider tomato pomace to be filler. We appreciate the inclusion of some amount of fruits and vegetables in the food.
