Pros:
Second to fifth ingredents are all named meat products, uses good quality ingredients throughout
Cons:
Minimum acceptable meat content
The first ingredient in the food is brown rice. This is a decent quality grain, but we believe that dog food should be based on meat, not plant matter. A weight management formula does not need to reduce meat content to reduce overall fat and calories.
The next four ingredients are all named meat products, two of which are in meal form. There is a further named meat meal ingredient 7th on the list. This goes some way to allieviating our concern about the first ingredient being grain. However, our confidence remains diminished and this product came very close to a 3 star rating.
The remaining ingredients in the food are all good quality. We appreciate the inclusion of a range of fruit and vegetables, but would have preferred the use of whole eggs rather than egg product.
We appreciate the range of probiotics in the food.
