Pros: First ingredient is a named meat product, use of high quality organic ingredients.
Cons: Insufficient meat products, use of wheat.

The first ingredient in the food is organic chicken. We appreciate the organic nature of the ingredient and this is likely to be of high quality. However, since it is chicken inclusive of its water content (about 80%) once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight).

The ingredients kamut, brown rice, oats, and barley are all good quality. But rice protein is filler, and wheat is a low quality grain that is the number one cause of allergy problems in dogs (organic or otherwise). We prefer not to see the use of wheat in any quantity in dog food.

Overall we consider this food is unlikely to contain an adequate amount of meat for a canine. Organic ingredients are appreciated, but that does not negate the basic requirement that dog food be based primarily on meat. That, combined with the inclusion of wheat in the food, prevent us recommending this food or according it a higher rating.
