Pros: First and third ingredients are named meat products, uses primarily good quality organic ingredients.
Cons: Minimum acceptable meat content.

The first ingredient in the food is a named meat product, as is the third. The first is chicken inclusive of its water content (about 80%) and once that is removed it is likely that this ingredient would be more accurately placed somewhat further down the ingredient list (ingredients are listed in order of weight). The meal version is the third ingredient in the food. There are five grain ingredients in the food, including the second (first true) ingredient. It is thus impossible to be confident that the food contains a substantial amount of meat.

The main grain in the food is organic brown rice. This is a good quality grain that is low-allergenic and a good source of carbohydrate and protein. The next grains are oats, millet and barley, all of which are good quality. Sorghum is not a high quality grain, however, and is low in digestibility.

The inclusion of some organic vegetables is appreciated, although peas are not highly digestible. Canola oil is a good source of linoleic acid, and flaxseed a good source of omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids.

While the use of organic ingredients is appreciated, this food does not contain sufficient meat products to receive a higher rating.
