Pros:
First and third ingredients are good meat products.
Cons:
Extensive use of low quality grain fragments and fillers.
The first and third ingredients in this food are good named meat products.
Brewers rice is the main grain in the food - a low quality grain and by-product.
Rice flour and rice gluten are low quality filler. Rice gluten is likely to be similar to corn gluten, which is defined by AAFCO as “that part of the commercial shelled corn that remains after the extraction of the larger portion of the starch, gluten, and term by the processes employed in the wet milling manufacture of corn starch or syrup”. In plain English, that which remains of rice after all the nutritious bits have been removed.
We note the use of yeast, which may be problematic for dogs that suffer yeast infections.
Overall, we are happy with the amount of meat product in this food and it is higher than most foods in this class. This food receives a low rating because of its use of low quality grain fragments and fillers.
